Tango - it’s all about the passion
Founded in 2020, The Camarada Tango Quartet redefines the tango experience with a bold, post-Piazzolla approach—masterfully blending the soul of tango, a virtuosic classical vibe, and a rock 'n' roll edge.
Their performances are more than entertainment; they are an emotional journey that captivates and moves audiences to the core.
The Camarada Tango Quartet has a repertoire containing over 50 tangos including great works from all tango eras and original compositions by Andres Martin.
Beth Ross Buckley, flute
David Buckley, violin
Andrés Martín, double bass
Dana Burnett, piano
The Cause: Casa de Amistad is a community-driven nonprofit organization based in Solana Beach, California, that provides educational support and mentoring to under-served youth and families in North San Diego County.
According to their mission and history, their work centers on several key pillars:
Academic Mentoring: They currently serve over 250 students (K–12) weekly, pairing them with approximately 225 volunteers who provide free tutoring and enrichment activities.
Educational Success: The organization reports a 100% high school graduation rate and a 100% post-secondary enrollment rate for its students.
Scholarships: Through the Future Leaders Scholarship Program, they have distributed over $300,000 to help students transition into universities, community colleges, and vocational training.
Whole Child Approach: Beyond just homework help, they focus on personal development and building a solid foundation for long-term career possibilities and earning potential.
Family Culture: The organization emphasizes an inclusive, family-centered culture, involving parents and relatives to create a supportive community network.
Community Roots: Founded in 1997 with just three local children, it has grown into a major regional resource that partners with local organizations to scale its influence across North County.
Casa de Amistad is currently focused on scaling its "radius of positive influence" by looking to expand its service model into additional neighborhoods within the North County community.
